Don’t let the mediocre cover/s scare you off of this book. Loved this story! A complicated, twisty story about a Victorian author, his insane wife, and a deep secret that affects the generations of the Gallagher family who live in an ancient Irish castle. A modern-day Gothic story. What’s not to love? Be patient, there are so many plot threads to follow (reminds me of my earlier manuscripts… LOL, when my editor told me I couldn’t have 9 points of view), but the intricacies are worth it! The writing is witty, thoughtful, and beautiful.

I listened to it on Audible so my only complaint was that the main character’s name–Carragh (pronounced Kara by the narrator), is so similar to another character, Kyra, that it always took me a minute to figure out which character was currently on page. Reading would have been a different experience since the names are visually different.
