Congratulations, everybody. I can’t wait until the citations are posted — those are always great reading.
.
They’re up!
Well, I tried to insert links to each of the citations, but that didn’t work, so I’ll just have to post the link to the 2011 AML Awards page here instead:
http://www.mormonletters.org/Awards/Year.aspx?year=2011
Enjoy!
.
I noticed a couple missing from the citations page:
Michael Dalton Allred
Paul Colt
Th., Michael Dalton Allred’s citation can be found here:

I didn’t post the citation for Paul Colt because I don’t have a copy of the citation. The Marilyn Brown Novel Award is given though UVU, and while it was presented at the AML Awards luncheon, it is no longer, technically, an AML award.
No award in Drama?
I would have thought that WWJD was a shoe in this year for the Drama Award…
.
I doubt WWJD qualified for last year. It’s older than that. Great play though.
This is an exciting batch of awards. Some things here I’m anxious to learn more about.
I thought the 2007 performance was just a staged reading.
.
I don’t really know the details of AML-Award eligibility . . . .
From what I’ve been told, plays can either be entered at the time of production, or reading, but usually it’s production. And I thought I checked and saw that New Play Project’s production was in 2011. I thought Anna Lewis did a great job on that play…
A couple of my plays premiered in 2011 as well, but I think Anna would have been the more deserving candidate this year. It really was a super script.

I just want to take the opportunity to say THANK YOU for that generous award! What a surprise! Also, to weigh in on Mahonri’s plays. A ROOF OVERHEAD is now playing in our Little Brown Theatre. (Two days left, Friday and Saturday.) I was so impressed with the writing of that play! Just wanted to voice my opinion. The reviewer paid more attention to the production. But the writing was FANTASTIC. Thank you, Mahonri!
