In 2020, in honor of the anniversary of the Women’s Suffrage movement, the political action group Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) will be partnering with Segullah literary journal to sponsor a writing and arts contest. We invite Latter-Day Saint women and/or members of MWEG who are writers or visual artists to create entries based on the theme, which comes from a prayer by St. Francis of Assisi, “Lord, Make Me an Instrument of Thy Peace.”
Categories include prose (both fiction and creative non-fiction), poetry, and visual art. Winners will receive $100 (generously funded by the Eugene England Foundation) and publication in the journal. In addition to being considered for prizes in the contest, entries which address the theme will be considered for publication in a book to be published by By Common Consent press.
Submissions will be accepted through January 31, 2020.
