With all that’s been going on, this is rather belated news, but here it is anyway: El Pregonero de Deseret has kicked off its third year of existence! We are excited to continue to move forward with this and have no plans to let up any time soon.
At 32 pages, issue 3.1 includes the following goodness:
- An editorial that discusses the history of LDS theater.
- A literary section that focuses on Joseph Smith. This seems appropriate for the bicentennial year of the First Vision. This section includes four poems, all about the Prophet of the Restoration, and a historical play that recreates the organization of the Church.
- An author spotlight of the recently deceased Argentine poet Teresa Rosa Coustés.
- A report on the 2019 Center of LDS Arts Festival.
- A talk from the 2019 LDSPMA Annual Conference on publishing Mormon literature in Mexico.
- A short essay on the habits of writers of literature.
- The call for entries in the very first international, Spanish-language only, Mormon literary contest. The contest is titled Palabras de Mormón, and it is organized by the Cofradía de Letras Mormonas, with the kind support of Mormon Lit Lab and the Asociación de Escritores Santo de los Últimos Días del Perú.
